When Should
Asthmatic Children Stay At Home?

If you are a parent of
asthmatic children, these are probably what you often deal with
in your daily family life,
* Your asthmatic children are having flu.
* Your children show
few asthma symptoms
* You cannot decide
whether their difficult breathing is caused by the flu, or
will trigger asthma attack.

In these
phases, you should make a decision whether your asthmatic children
should be absent from school and rest at home to avoid a more severe
asthma, or should you let them have their routine activities, while you
cure their flu. These are few factors that you must consider,
Peak flow performance
Your
children’s peak flow performance is a strong indicator to decide whether
they should rest at home or not. If the result is 70% or less than their
best performance, they should stay at home. Especially when the
condition stays the same after you give them
asthma medication.
Virus
The virus
infection might not be harmful, however it can make your children’s
health become more sensitive against asthma attack. The virus could
cause these symptoms, |

When your children have those
symptoms, it’s better to ask them to rest at home, and try to cure the
symptoms.
On the other hand, you can let your children have their ‘freedom’ from
home resting again, when you find these conditions appear,
-
Whistling sound while breathing, however it stopped after using
quick reliever drugs
-
Peak flow performance is
70% or higher after using quick reliever drugs
-
Stuffy nose, but no
whistling sound
-
No difficult or heavy
breathing
-
Have energy to have normal
activities.
However, you still have to
assure your asthmatic children to bring their inhaler wherever they go.
Make sure that the school always keeps your children’s
