Nutritional Therapy

Use The Power Of Nutrition To Help Your Asthma

Nutritional Therapy has been one of the most important naturopathy methods, as conventional medical world realize now the best strategy to maintain health is by having a good diet. They also suggest the consumption of food supplement which contain vitamin, mineral, enzyme, amino acid, antioxidant, and hormone. Even though you can find many brands of food supplement in the market, it is recommended to consult with your doctor or naturopathist to decide the best dose for you.

The most common nutritional therapy for allergy and inflammatory in asthma are...

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been the basic of nutrition therapy in handling inflammatory by fighting free radical with its antioxidant, and relieving allergy symptoms with its antihistamine.

The best dose is 1000 to 2000 mg per day. However, if you get diarrhea or bloating because of vitamin C, it means that you have used too much vitamin C that your intestines could absorb. In that case, you can reduce the dose. To the safety of your stomach, you can use buffered vitamin C products, such as Ester C.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E has been used by the medical practices because of its antioxidant function, which can be used as an anti-inflammatory. For asthma patient, 400 iu per day is the best dose. Common foods that contain vitamin E include almond, nuts, soy oil, corn oil, turnip and mango.

Fatic Acid (EPA, GLA, DHA)

The most effective fatic acid for inflammatory are EPA and DHA from fish oil. Fish oil from cold water fishes, such as salmon, mackarel and herring are rich of EPA. While black currant, evening primrose and borage produce fish oil with GLA. The fish oils block desaturated enzym function that your body need to prepare prostaglandine production.

Selenium

Trace mineral in selenium is very effective in reducing inflammation. It increases the phagosytic activities of white blood cells, stimulates the peroxidize glutathione enzim activities to neutralize free radical, and reduces pro-inflammatoric prostaglandine production, which your body produces as a respons against inflammation cause. Take selenium in 200 mcg per day dose. Seafoods, meat, nuts, and eggs are several among many others selenium food sources.

Quercetin

Quercetin and other flavonoids has been proved to be a strong reliever to some inflammatory respons. Bioflavonoid works as antioxidant that neutralize inflammatory, blocks the histamin release, and blocks the pro-inflammatoric prostaglandine building. The safe dose of quercetin is 500 mg per day. You can find quercetin in onion, parsley, broccoli, apple, kale, and red wine.
