There are four categories which are related to negative reaction against food,

Food Aversion

This is a strong dislike feeling against certain food. People with this condition usually had an uncomfortable experience with that food in their past. And they believe that they will have the same bad feeling when they eat the same food. The fact is, they have blocked it from their mind. That’s why when they accidentally consume it, they will feel unhealthy. The truth is, food aversion is not a health problem, it is only our own perception about certain food.

Food Sensitivity

Some people do have a higher sensitivity of certain character of food compared to others. The high sensitivity usually comes from chemical composition contained in the food. For example, we know that coffee and tea contain caffeine. Most people will feel fresh after drinking coffee and tea, however people with food sensitivity will get nervous and have a little tremor in their hands after drinking even half a cup of coffee.

Food Intolerance

Food intolerance is a physical reaction to food, but does not involve body immune system. It happens as your body cannot digest it perfectly. In a dairy intolerance, for example, a person with this condition will get gastritis or diarrhea after drinking some milk. His body failed to produce the required enzyme that is needed to digest sugar and lactose in the milk. However, he can still eat small portion of cheese or modified milk.

Food Allergy

Food allergy is quite similar with food intolerance, but food allergy is involving your body immune system. Certain food which contain allergen to which you are allergic to, can trigger allergy symptoms. In this case, the only prevention you can take is by eliminating the allergen from your menu. To have the right diagnose for the negative reaction to food, you will need to conduct an elimination diet. In this diet, firstly you must eliminate all potential food that can cause negative reaction from your menu. After that, you will be introduced to these foods one at a time. Every reactions you have after eating them must be put into a detailed list. You must do this diet under supervision of your physician.
