Wrong Asthma Treatment In Children

Asthma sits on the highest rank of illness that put children into emergency room these days. And many people believe that the number will be growing, and the children will be more suffering from difficult breathing. It’s our responsibility as parents, to give them all the helps they need to let them free from asthma symptoms.

Most of the cases that put the children into emergency room are caused by wrong asthma treatment. Let’s take a look at them,

Do you have any interesting health information or article that is related to asthma or allergy? You can publish it here with 2-3 links back to your site. Just contact me using the Contact Me page!

Wrong asthma diagnosis

When your children or babies got asthma symptoms, Doctors might diagnose them with severe coughing, cold or virus infections, and prescribe a medicine for it. Sometimes asthma can be mis-diagnosed as pneumonia or bronkhitis. Of course, all the ailment will be treated with non-asthma medication while the asthma itself will be left uncontrolled.

Ignorance of the asthma-allergy correlation

When you children have eczema or any other allergy symptoms, what would your Doctors say to you? That your children have food allergy? Do they ask you about night coughing or difficult breathing that your children might have? You must pay attention on this, as eczema and allergy are often correlated to asthma. It’s too risky to treat them only with allergy approach without controlling the asthma.

Allergy test must be conducted immediately to diagnose the exact allergy in your children. Not every child who has allergy suffer from asthma too, however allergy is the primary risk factor of asthma, and the most cause of asthma attack. So, by treating the allergy, your children’s asthma will soon be gone as well.

Lack of Accurate Information

In many cases, parents leave the doctor’s office with only a light understanding about what has actually triggered their children’s asthma, and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

When a doctor prescribe bronchodilator to be used with inhaler, for example, you must ensure that the doctor explains every detail about how to use inhaler correctly to put the accurate amount of bronchodilator into your child’s airways. You must also know about the difference between bronchodilator and other long acting asthma medication.

It’s also important for parents to learn about asthma trigger and/or asthma inducer that trigger asthma in children. This way you know how to apply a healthier habits for your asthmatic children. When your children are away from home, all the habits and precautions should always be taken thoroughly. Give your children’s teachers, school nurses, nannies enough information on ‘do and don’t’ in your children asthma treatment.

You and your asthmatic children have all the rights to get knowledge and information about asthma and allergy, in order to provide good preventive and treatment for asthma.
